OII !!! MODCHIP-WIZARD !!! My modded xbox no longer boots to dashboard (avalaunch). Error 16 appears. Modded using duo x 2. A Holodetz cousin gave this box to me. In laymens terms could you give instructions on how to fix it.

There are many ways- here is a suggestion-



1. Dowload a program called boXplorer

2. Download any version of Evolution X

3. Put Evolution X (which will be evoxdash.xbe and the .ini in a folder)

4. Burn the open contents of boXplorer + the folder with evoxdash.xbe and evox.ini files) to a verbatim CDRW

5. Insert disc and with the loaded boXplorer program on screen open the folder and insert the 2 EVOX files into your Xbox C partition.


Reboot and BB...B.obs your Uncle

there are 2 solder pads on the main board at that point just drag solder across them to bridge them as one.



Some mod chips also bridging the "X" point with "DO" allow the mod chip to work.

A bios (Basic Input Output System) is a piece of firmware or software instructions set that allows for communication between all the parts of the xbox - including the main board and all chipsets as well as instructions for boot device priority. Updating your bios allows for more and different features to be recognized by your xbox.


Modchips for Xbox have been released by many manufacturers - generally xbox mods support either one or more 256k or 512k or some 1024k Bios- these banks are also generally Flashable which means they can be erased and re written. When upgrading your bios it is handy to know which size bios your xbox mod can handle. The 2 main bios types for most gamers are the EvolutionX M7 and later M8 Bios- which supports xbox version 1.6 and the Xecutor bios well known as X2 and X3 bios of which the latest 256k version is X2 4983.06 for up to 129Gig Hard drive support and X2 4983.67 for supporting hard drives up to 2T/G. These bios also come in 512k versions but the latest 512k bios release from Xecutor is the X2 5035 and the X3 3283.

Some modchips for xbox came packaged with a programmer but these are not required.

Most Mod chipped Xbox consoles are also running a new dashboard like Evolution X XBMC Xbox Media Centre Avalaunch Nex Gen or Linux. Each of these dashboards has an easy to use Flash Bios section except XBMC. Using Evolution X Dashboard as an example - Download your preferred bios from the internet and transfer the bios file/s into your xbox "Bios" folder usually in C Partition by FTP or a CDRW or DVD using an Xbox file manager like Xbox explorer or XBMC. Open the .ini file in C Partition with a text reader like word pad or notepad and enter the following codes below (which accomodates most xbox mods available including Xecutor modchips aladdin series mods Matrix xalx duox3 duox2 duox smartXXX ST flashable to name a few ) into the "BIOS" section of the .ini by copy and paste. After doing this the modchips address is recognized by the Evolution X dashboard and flashing the modchip is completed by selecting the bios from the Flash bios menu usually found in System Utilities folder.

If you select the wrong sized bios Evolution X will not proceed with the flash.

I got a Duo X3 installed in mine after attempting to do it myself i stuffed it up and ripped off the DO point and had to take it to these guys to get it fixed-

they changed over my main board and installed the modchip on the new main board and installed A XBMC version 764.78997 damn she goes now -
